Zhenjiang lists two national 5A scenic areas: the Jinshan–Jiaoshan–Beigu Mountains Scenic Area (the "Three Mountains") in the urban core, and Jurong Maoshan Scenic Area to the southeast. Provincial news and national rolls both count them among Jiangsu's 5A set.

Yangtze river-island temples & pagodas • Daoist holy mountain + wartime sites
Getting there
Three-Mountains: within Zhenjiang urban area; Maoshan: ~45–60 min drive to Jurong
Real-name booking
Required on peak days; venue mini-programs available

2 Why It Matters

Few cities pack so much riverside temple scenery into an urban core: Jinshan, Jiaoshan and Beigu face each other across the Yangtze like a pocket anthology of Jiangnan mountain-and-water aesthetics—then Maoshan adds a full Daoist pilgrimage landscape just outside town.

3 Pro Tips

1
For Three-Mountains, ride the river ferry to Jiaoshan first (quiet paths), then finish at Jinshan for golden-hour shots;
2
Maoshan has multiple temple clusters—plan a loop (Jiuxiao/Wanfu Palace → Shangqing Palace → New Fourth Army Memorial) and bring layers; ridge wind chills even in spring.
